God Bless America...Red, White, Blue Blog Party

...with thanks to Joan at Anything Goes Here for hosting the Red, White and Blue blog party.  Be sure to head on over there and check out all of the participants.

We'll start with a few photos from
our space at Elkhorn last weekend.
The paper kite is from the 60's and
went home with another dealer.
Toddler-size majorette boots, brooms, sheet music,
a chippy clock face, a sign....

Wandering the grounds at Elkhorn I spotted
this great old parade wagon.
This booth was beautiful.
I'm sorry I didn't get the vendor's name.

Sunday at Elkhorn

There's nothing like setting up outside at a flea market on a nice summer day.  When the weather is iffy, or worse than iffy, I'm thankful for our inside location.  Yesterday was just such a day. It was a mix of overcast skies, torrential rains, sunshine, more rain....  Many outside dealers packed it in early, and I can't say that I blame them. I hope that it was a successful day for those who stayed.

Chatting with our customers is always fun. It was nice to see Jill and meet blog readers Mara & Kate...(thanks for stopping by!) We grabbed a few moments to roam the grounds and had a chance to say hello to Candy from Altered Ever After.  Her creativity amazes me and her display was the best even though my photo doesn't do it justice.
Super-shopper Jeanine from ChiPPy!-SHaBBy! stopped in and alerted us to the fact that Mariann and her trailer were set up outside.  How do you spell jealous?  I spell it P-I-N-K!
It was so sweet of her to invite me in for a peek at the end of a long day...thanks Mariann! (No she's not sleeping. but probably wished she could be.)

Check out the great barkcloth that she found for curtains & cushions.
...and the pink wheels. Oh my!
Elkhorn always leaves us happy but tired, and wishing for just one thing.

July 4th - Lincoln Highway Antique Show Mt Vernon IA - We'll Be There!

I've just added a show to my schedule, (no one has ever accused me of planning ahead!)

Next Sunday, July 4th I'll be at the Lincoln Highway Antique Show in Mt. Vernon, Iowa.  I'm hoping for a chance to meet fellow bloggers from Simply Iowa and Polly Ann's there. Mount Vernon looks like a charming town.  My plan is to arrive early so I have time to check out all the great shops in town.

Come say hello if you're in that area - it sounds like a great way to spend the 4th!

Tornado Damage at Old World Wisconsin

On Monday night a tornado touched down in the small village of Eagle,Wisconsin, about 15 minutes from here. Many homes were destroyed and countless others were damaged.  Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.  Old World Wisconsin is located in Eagle.  It's one of our favorite historical sites and I've blogged about it twice; last summer and at Christmas time.

Old World Wisconsin was hit bit the tornado and is currently closed for clean-up.  Thankfully there was no major damage to the historical buildings, but many trees were lost.  Check out the amazing photos of the damage here. Our granddaughters are coming to visit soon and two of them are scheduled to attend the One Room Schoolhouse Rocks day camp there.  We're all hoping that the site will be able to re-open soon.

The Old World Wisconsin Foundation has established a fund to help with the clean-up expenses. Here's a link for anyone that would like to contribute.

Fresh Off the Truck and Heading for Elkhorn

Okay, I confess.  There is no "truck".  Just a boring old mini-van, totally practical for hauling stuff & grandkids...but boring!
There is however great new stuff, just off the van and headed to the Elkhorn Antiques Flea Market this Sunday.
First, these vintage locker baskets...
They have that great mid-century industrial vibe and are useful for SO many things.
We've also got some terrific old hardware...
...and on a recent trip to Michigan we
picked up a nice batch of old clock & watch parts.
Face it...these are fun!
If you can't make it to Elkhorn and see something that you love, e-mail us for details...we ship.

Oops - almost forgot these great industrial drawers and RED marquee letters !

More Photos From Northwind

Wow - where did last week go?  Between business and some family time, I haven't had a moment to post. Sadly, there hasn't been time to read recent posts from favorite bloggers, either.  There is some serious catchin' up to be done around here!  Here are some more photos from the show.

Another view of our booth

We enjoyed meeting Mindy from Vintage Nest
Her shop is in Glenview IL and I can't wait
to visit one day

The Chippy Shabby booth was wonderful...as always!

It was a fun show and we enjoyed seeing some of our regulars including Catherine, Jill & Chloe, Terry & family from Daddios Diner and Sue T.
It was great to meet Lu from Sadie 'n Stella and our neighbor Jamie from Hollyhock Garden Antiques.
I'll apologize in advance as I'm sure I'm forgetting someone, but we sincerely appreciate all who stopped by.

I'll leave you with a few more photos of the grounds, and we'll see you at Elkhorn this weekend.

Fill In the Blanks: T_r_e Li_t_e Ki_te_s

We have a lot more Northwind show & tell to come, but life is interfering with blogging this week. I have just enough time to show you one bit of cuteness.  As Kathy and I removed the last tarp from the outside of our tent on Saturday, this tiny kitten peered out from inside:

We then went inside to pull out the things that were stashed inside the tent for the night and found this:
They all pretended that we couldn't see them for a few moments and then scampered off to the barn.  It was a sweet start to the day.

Northwind Show Continues Today

Come on out to the Northwind Perennial Farm Today  - Sale starts at 9 and you are going to love what you see.  The grounds are amazing, perennials are on sale and you'll find wonderful vintage treasures for your garden & home.  Here are a few random photos from yesterday.

A corner of our booth.  We're located down the pathway from the big barn.

Northwind Perennial Farm Antique & Garden Sale - Preview

This Friday & Saturday I'm teaming up with my friend Kathy for the Northwind Perennial Farm show.  In a "Twilight Zone" moment, we discovered that we are taking chairs that are nearly identical. I purchased the one on the left last week at a rummage sale. Kathy found the one on the right a few years ago in an antique shop. The sibs were happy to be reunited.

We're bringing a colorful mix of great vintage finds for the garden, patio & porch. If the weather cooperates, Uncle Sam will make a cameo appearance.   Here's a sneak peek:
Hope to see YOU there!
