Weekends at Waterloo & Giveaway Reminder!

Tomorrow night we'll announce the lucky winner of the KGSalvataggio giveaway.  Go here and leave a comment(s) on the contest post to enter!  Now - onward!  It's crazy week here at the cottage. After a big weekend at the Waterloo Antiques Mall, I'm flying around like a crazed bird getting ready for Junk Jubilee this weekend.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love having space in the Waterloo Antiques Mall?
These two are a big reason why it's such a pleasure to shop and sell there. That's staff member Lou on the left, with mall owner Sherry on the right.  They, along with the rest of the staff work hard to ensure a pleasant experience for all who walk through the door.  Thanks guys!

I also want to thank Kim & Tony from Mequon who came out to shop my booth on Saturday - it was great to meet you!  Marcia and Michelle, it was great to meet you, too. (Michelle got the awesome sports training room cubby - sending my things away to a good home always makes me happy!)

Now, meet Steve.  Steve is the person who encouraged me to sell at Waterloo. He told me  "it's magical".
He was right, it is a magical place.  See Steve, I said it again! You. Were. Right.
Steve is the owner of the newly opened Weekends home furnishings store, within the Waterloo Antiques Mall. Weekends is a mix of American made upholstered goods and upcycled vintage finds.  You're going to love browsing here.
I've been drooling over this chair since I first saw it a few weeks ago.
Steve and his wife Judy are very good at providing information about the products they sell.  And yes, that IS "happy" fabric; I'm pretty sure you'd agree!
Can you just picture these chairs in your breakfast room?
And after seeing this lamp, I'm kicking myself for passing up a couple of these old picnic jugs recently.

I'd encourage all of you not to miss Weekends in the Waterloo Antiques Mall, in Waterloo, Wisconsin.

Giveaway Reminder and Shopping Portland 1. Rejuvination -

Just a reminder - if you haven't entered the KGSalvataggio giveaway on my last post yet click here for details. The odds of winning are very good at the moment!
Now, Portland.
The first shop that Kirsten and I visited was Rejuvination and it knocked my socks off!  The front part of the large store is filled with refurbished or upcycled industrial furnishings and lighting.

Do you see what the top of this table is?  An expandable painter's scaffolding board.

The legs on this old dental cabinet are swoon-worth.

If you like these giant light bulbs, you're in luck.  I have some and will bring them along to Junk Jubilee in Des Moines. (Junk Jubilee starts just a week from today!)

The back part of Rejuvination is loaded with salvaged items.
I was so in love with this cabinet that I forgot to see what was for sale in all those drawers.

She was beat up but hadn't lost her dignity!

There were one-of-a-kind finds...

...and gazillions of other things.

When I travel and shop, I usually come back to Wisconsin with a new appreciation of what is available to us here in the Midwest.  Prices at Rejuvination were many times higher than what I sell my items for. (If you'd like an example of that, come see my basket full of door knobs at the Waterloo (WI) Antiques Mall.  What I sell for $5-10, are $10-70 in Portland.)

This little beauty is one thing that I did consider purchasing, in spite of the price tag.  You rotate the handle to select a letter:

...and it punches it onto paper.  You all know how much I love letters!  This was great. If you find yourself in Portland, don't miss Rejuvination!

I'm linking up with Debra at Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration Friday - you are going to find much to love at this linky party!

I'm Back and It's A KG Salvataggio Giveaway!

My trip was great fun and I came home a bit jealous of all of you junkers in Oregon.  You've got an abundance of wonderful places to shop.  It was a treat to see the booths of Kathleen of Faded Charm and Bella, B is for Bella at the Monticello Antique Mall.  I posted a few pics on my FB page last week - check it out!

The reason for my visit to Portland was to visit my niece, Kirsten.  (Here she is at Rejuvination where we found a sofa that was a great match for her boots!)  Kirsten and her husband recently moved to Oregon from California and she's having a blast exploring the shops.  We barely scratched the surface in the few days that I was there.

Kirsten is an artist and a personal trainer.  She loves God, her husband, her three dogs, her handsome  Freesian, and creating beautiful art from bits and pieces.  She recently opened an etsy shop, KGSalvataggio, showcasing some of her jewelry.  To introduce the shop, she is giving away one of her necklaces. Her pieces have a Western/Boho/Gypsy/Industrial vibe that I love.

Her profile says it better than I can:
"All of my creations are designed and executed solely by me using quality materials combined in unexpected ways. I use a wide variety of materials which may include the following: hardware, recycled items, (leather, vintage chains, salvaged industrial items, antique beads and buttons), Swarovski Crystals, wire, metal, and other interesting findings."
I love her tag line:
"My art is inspired by God's Creation and man's junk."
Check out the cross - cut from an industrial serial plate and adorned with crystals.  Photos can never do justice to the quality and intricacy of these pieces.
No two necklaces are ever exactly alike.  I was wearing one of the Dodo birds yesterday.  When I got off the plane the flight attendant said she'd been admiring my necklace the entire flight and had to know where I got it.

Here's how YOU can enter to win the necklace of your choice from KGSalvataggio
1.  Click here to visit KGSalvataggio and leave a comment on this post stating the name of the necklace that  is your favorite.
2.  Put a link to this post on your Facebook page and leave a comment on this post stating that you did.
3.  Tweet a link to this post and leave a comment on this post stating that you did.
4.  Include a link to this post in your blog post and leave a comment on this post stating that you did/
Simple, hey?  Just remember to leave one comment for each of the above that you do. You can have up to four chances to win!  Comments will be numbered in the order they come in and on Tuesday, April 24th we'll let random.org choose the winner.  You'll then be able to choose any available necklace on KGSalvataggio and Kirsten will send it to you.
GOOD LUCK!!

Now head on over to Faded Charm for White Wednesday and see what else is going on!

Toot! Toot! I'm Outta Here...

My favorite find this week?
This collection of vintage model train props.
Gnarly...
...nostalgic...
used alone or in a group, they have  a funky, fun vibe.
Kitschy, sculptural, worn - love em!
These are all packed up and ready to go to Junk Jubilee, April 21st in Des Moines, IA.
Hope you'll come see us there.
In the meantime, I'm off to play.  I'm headed to Portland OR to visit my niece and then off to CA to see my Mom.  My niece has the "junk gene", (hooray!!!), and we'll be doing a little shopping. I'm hoping to visit the mall where B is for Bella and Kathleen of Faded Charm are set up.  I don't know that I'll be doing any blogging, but I'll be sure to get some pics on my Facebook page from time to time.
Have a great week...see ya!

Josie's Antiques - Maple Park Illinois

After the 'Superman' auction last Saturday,  I headed off to check out Josie's Antiques in Maple Park, IL. Just four miles from Dekalb, Illinois,  I'd somehow missed this wonderland on a previous trip to this area. The driveway doesn't give many clues to what lies ahead.
There are five buildings filled with the most wonderful things. Oh, and homemade cookies.  I felt like I was on a private retreat as I wandered around.  Enjoy the photos!
