Superman Auction

The little town of Plano, Illinois was turned into 'Smallville' last year when the new Superman movie was filmed there.  The movie is slated for release in 2013.  On Saturday, I drove over two hours to Plano, to attend the auction of the props used for the movie.  I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I found myself underwhelmed after inspecting the 9 wagon loads of miscellaneous 'schtuff' and small warehouse of larger pieces.
I also underestimated the emotional attachment that the people of Smallville...,(er Plano), had to objects that may have been used in the movie.  I was astounded at some of the prices for the seemingly mundane objects.  It's not like you'd ever be able to prove that the office supplies you purchased actually appeared in the movie.  One Sharpie pretty much looks like another, for example. I did manage to come away with a few objects of my desire, but not many.
This couple was kind enough to pose next to the faux gilded column base for me.  It was h-u-g-e, and had 3 tall column pieces to go with it.  It was one group that went cheap.  I think the set sold for just $45.00.  It was the kind of thing that you'd just have to have a place for...and the ability to haul it.  Following are random snapshots of items sold.

That blue chair at the right was a heart-grabber. Sadly, I didn't get it.  The green chairs in front of it did come home with me though, and they are wonderful.  They are headed to the mall on Tuesday.
This big console table is also mine; I had to fight for it but was not going to leave without it. The old gray paint highlights it's great legs. The size and shape give it loads of versatility. It could function in an entry, behind a sofa or as a serving table for you next buffet dinner. It will be available at the mall on Tuesday.

When the see the movie next year, let me know if you spot any of these pieces!
