Setting the 'Bones' at Waterloo

When you're setting up a new space, I recommend that you find a 'Kathy' to help you.
My 'junksista' Kathy was kind enough to go out to Waterloo with me yesterday, to get the 'bones' of the booth in place.  I couldn't have done it without you Kathy - THANKS!
It's going to take several more trips to get everything in, but I hope to have most of it done by midweek next week.
The entire mall is in a state of positive transition right now; many of the great dealers that have been there for years are moving or re-doing their spaces; you know these things take time, but when it's all completed you are going to be wowed!    I'm so excited that the terrific management and staff are moving forward with the times, and not stuck in the same ol' time-warp that many of the malls in this area seem to embrace.

I'd love to know what you see in the malls and shops in your area; fresh ideas, or same as always?  Go ahead and name names in the comments if there are shops in your area that are keeping up with the times...better yet, go post a link to them on my Facebook page - click here.

  1. I am in Cedar Rapids and would LOVE directions to this antique mall. I am feeling the need to shop when I see your photos. Also, do you have certain days that you work there, would love to meet you.

  2. Hi Amy, it's in Waterloo WI, kind of between Milwaukee & Madison. I won't be working there, ( it's an hour from where i live), but do plan to be there about once a week to keep things fresh. If you ever come this way please let me know and we'll make a day of it!

  3. When we moved to our farm in western Wisconsin in 2007, we had the fabulous chance to explore a new antiquing area...Minnesota. We have had such fun...and still especially love multi- dealer malls or flea markets we can "fall into" for hours. The mall we sell at in Hixton is a wonderful multi-dealer mall...but truth be said, it certainly could use a little shake up. I know I plan to literally unload my booth there some time this summer and begin again. Anyway have fun! Kari

  5. Hi...not sure if my last comment made it...disappeared. I do so agree in the need to " touch everything" in my booth every now & again. I also hope to do a total rebuild this summer. Have fun with this new adventure.

I don't know if link will work. I'm working on my booth in Wausau, WI and will post about it later. I am also getting ready for the DePere Antique Show at St. Norbert's college. Blessings from Ringle, WI.

  9. I try to get to my booths about every 7-10 days. I bring new things in and move things around. It always helps with sales. I 've seen some booths were it is the same old stuff...and I think that is a bad image!
    Have FUN!

  10. I think I'm as excited about the space as you are, Jan! What fun to see it coming together piece by piece. Can't wait to see the first final effort when it's done.
Your treasures are PERfect for the space!
