Iowa and Junk Jubilee!

Returning from Junk Jubilee on Monday evening, I jumped right into a whole lotta schtuff to do;  shipping, unloading, putting away, babysitting my sweet grandson, picking....here it is Friday and I'm just getting around to telling you a bit about Iowa.  First of all, between Wisconsin and Des Moines is a mighty big river. It's the m-i-s-s-i-s-s-i-p-p-i.   We crossed at LeClaire, Iowa, so we just had to stop at the shop of the American Pickers, Antique Archaeology.
That's Kathy, (Down Lilac Lane), in front of the shop. Inside & out we found some cool things on display, a few old treasures for sale and loads of t-shirts. Of course we each bought one.  LeClaire has many shops; our favorite was Big River Antiques.  Wish I'd taken pictures there but we were too busy admiring all of the unique items.  Then it was off to Des Moines to set up for Junk Jubilee.

Junk Jubilee promoters Miccia and Jan and their staff were so hospitable.  We appreciated being able to drive right into the building for unloading.  It sure makes life easier.   Look who I spotted near the front of the line:
Two of my Grayslake faves, Allison & Jenn!  My photo is fuzzy but their mission was crystal clear - to pack a van with amazing goodies. It was a treat to see their familiar faces.  Other fun sightings among the shoppers included The Vintage Pixies Iowa Junk Gypsies and Ginger,(Virginia Rose).

Here are a few iphone snaps from our booth - I'll be posting more pics on my facebook page shortly.
A big THANKS to all who shopped our booth!

So what's next?  On Monday I'm heading out to Brimfield, MA with my friend  Margaret, (Lady Liberty's Treasure Chest).  We are going not to sell, but to SHOP the mother of all fine fleas!  I'll try to post some pics on Facebook during the week.  Once I return, I'll be gearing up for the first Elkhorn Flea Market of the season, May 20th.  Get it on the calendar now - you'll be sorry if you miss it!

  1. Did you see Mike or Frank - Danny? I want to go there too. What is the Junk Jubilee and more importantly - "mother of all fleas?" Definately post about that! Blessings from Ringle.

    1. No Mike, Frank or Danielle. I think they only hang out there when filming - and then the shop is closed. 'Brimfield' is a week long series of flea markets in the tiny town of Brimfield MA - with different fields opening on different days. It's so big that it's nearly impossible to see it all. f-u-n!

  5. How funny, I stopped at Antique Archaeology on Sat. May 5th! It was a beautiful sunny almost summer day. Hope you had a chance to run next door to Danielle's 4 miles 2 Memphis shop. Don't you just love Le Claire? We where on our way back from the Collectors Paradise flea market in What Cheer. Unfortunately they had about 5" of rain in two days so most tables were standing in water. But being a good junker we slopped our way thru it. I enjoy your blog and hope to find you at Elkhorn on the 20th.
