I Adore My New Drawers

Just look!
A small vintage industrial flat file, perfect for storing ephemera.

Perfectly worn, chippy, shabby...
...in a soft aqua

This dreamy file was a gift from my junksista, Kathy.
I love it!

(The old paper mache store display torso is a recent find
I think she looks pretty happy perched on the drawers.  Kathy suggested that
she could use a 'foundation garmet', perhaps made of shells - do you agree?)

Did you get a gift that you adore?

Savoring the Details

With so many objects passing through my hands, I sometimes don't take the time to appreciate the details. This architectural piece came home from Minnesota with me.  Although I found just one, the home it came from would have been loaded with trim.
Imagine the time and care it took to create this one simple object of beauty.
Now grab your afternoon tea and follow me over to Faded Charm to wander through a wealth of wonderful whiteness!

Grayslake...Come On Out!

The weather dudes are promising us a warm weekend for the Grayslake Antique Market tomorrow and Sunday. ("Warm" means 30's, which is more than forty degrees warmer than it was yesterday at this time - yaHOO!)  Our booth will be packed with a load of great finds and last minute gifts.  Hope to see you there!  Don't forget to click here and print out yesterday's post for half price admission.

I'm linking up with Debra at Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration Friday....and I'm heading over there right now to be inspired by all those great posts.  Grab your coffee and meet me there!

Spotted at the Gurnee Antique Center

After stocking my case at the Gurnee Antique Center this week
I took a stroll through the rest of the mall.
This dealer has a lot of ironstone.
I love these pitchers.

Simply divine!

This jewelers cabinet looks great
and offers loads of storage for small items.

One chippy shelf...(the only one I saw).

perfect!

Old blue paint grabs me every time.

I always find something to love in this booth.
Check out those bins on the back wall.
The Gurnee Antique Mall is located
in Gurnee, Illinois, right off I-94.
...easy to get to if you're traveling between
Chicago and Milwaukee.

***Housekeeping note...I haven't been able to get that 'update' box off my background, even after updating.  I'm happy to say that I have someone working on a new blog design and hope
to have it up in 2-3 weeks...can't wait!

Junk Bonanza...Feeling BLUE

We're just days away from loading up and heading to Junk Bonanza.  I'm sharing a space with Kathy.  Two friends, two overloaded vans, one 10 x 10 space...yikes!  You can be sure that we'll be re-stocking daily because there's no way that it will all fit into that space for the first day.

I've always loved blue and use it in my home year-round.  It's cheery in spring, beachy in summer, mellow when paired with brown in the fall and and there's nothing that says "winter" more than crisp blue & white nestled among fresh evergreens.  It's no wonder that I found a lot of blue when I started pulling together my Junk Bonanza inventory.

Without further ado
I give you.............blue

White Wednesday - Junk Bonanza Gets a Bit of White

Thanks to Kathleen at Faded Charm for hosting White Wednesday.  Participants are creative and if you haven't checked it out you're missing some great posts!  This week we're featuring a few items that are ready to travel to Junk Bonanza next week.

While these locker baskets aren't technically white, the oxidation gives them a white "aura".

We've gathered some architectural elements...chippy, shabby - delicious!

This old white wheel makes a perfect garden accent and if you know Rose Ann, please tell her that we've got her sign!

Enjoy the day!

Fresh Merchandise In the Door - Weekend Finds

As promised, some of my recent finds...
Vintage garden markers from Amazing Grace Antiques, copper letters from Grannie's Attic and a bowl from another shop in Marshall.

I love the fan & shell detail on the outside of the bowl

The silhouette of this old store display won me over. I found it at Grannie's Attic.

Old porcelain letters from Grannie's Attic

Plastic charms & beads

Enameled European house numbers

Steel letters from Amazing Grace Antiques

Funny little angels on slalom skis, made in Italy

Tea strainer from "Jane's Furniture"

The gals on this cabinet card look a little mysterious

I love this big ol' shabby clock from Grannie's Attic

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Weekend Shopping - Turkeyville & Marshall, Michigan

For the past week we had the joy of having two of our granddaughters with us. Yesterday, I took them home to Michigan, meeting their Mom partway.  I knew there would be time to shop, so checked around for events in the area. When I found a listing for an "Antique Show & Flea Market" at Turkeyville, it sounded like fun.  Turns out that the only turkey in Turkeyville was ME, for driving 90 minutes out of my way to get there.
Has this ever happened to you? This was pretty much "it".

Fortunately, the town of Marshall was nearby.  There were 4 antique shops and two of them were especially fun.  Amazing Grace Antiques was loaded with treasures on four levels.
I knew I was going to love this shop.
Vintage prom dresses were hung near the ceiling...

...there were fun vignettes at every turn...
...colors of the sea...
...and girly delights.

Down the street was Grannie's Attic, another large shop loaded with treasures.
There was a huge variety for home & garden.
I saw chippy delights...
...cabinets overflowing with china & Ironstone
...all reasonably priced...
 ...and this faboo fireplace mantel.

I'd love to return to these two shops one day, but I definitely won't be stopping at Turkeyville next time!  Next post...recent finds.
