I'm So In Love With...

Yesterday was a good day.  A very good day.
My junksista Kathy and I spent over 2 1/2 hours at a marvelous estate sale.
This is my favorite of all my finds.
It's painted on black velvet, but this ain't Elvis folks.
It's 'Kewpie.'
One look into those eyes and I fell for him.
The velvet is shattered along the stretcher bars.
There are holes here & there.
He's been around a long, long time.
Look at the backing.
The artist, M. Schomig wasn't exactly a pro at proportions
but he/she sure did capture Kewpie's soul.
I'm so in  love with 'Kewpie'.

She's the Gracie in Gracie's Cottage

Gracie sleeps in the sunroom, (also called Gracie's Cottage or Graceland). When I moved a desk and my laptop into "her" room, she was a little offended by the intrusion.  After mediation, we reached an amicable settlement which included naming my etsy shop and blog after her.  I'll let her tell you a bit about herself.
Favorite field trip?  The bank, hands down.  They give me a treat there, but I won't eat it until we arrive home.

Favorite season: winter

...I love snow

Favorite channel:  Animal Planet. (duh!)  This was taken the day they got me the big screen TV.  I love, love, love to watch my shows.

I know I don't look it, but I'm 84 years old.  A cushy bed, loads of treats and a walk each day are all I need.  I'm slowing down a bit, but I'm still Jan's best friend.  My favorite blog?  Confessions of A Junkyard Cat. ... check it out!

Under the Thunder

7:30 a.m.  It's ominously dark outside and the rain is bouncing off "the" chair.  This old gal followed me home from an estate sale earlier this spring. I thought I'd sell her; but I've become rather attached to her cheery outlook.  On the gloomiest day, she is the lone spot of brightness.

I know that a lot of you love storms, and this one is a doozy. I wish I could post the sound of the thunder for you; The door is open for better listening, although it makes me jump at times.

Gracie is stressed, to put it mildly.  She's not a fan of lightning, thunder, or even plain ol' rain.  I heard her yelping and went to investigate.  It seemed that she was contemplating whether it would be more scary to stay upstairs, or to venture down into the dark basement alone. I turned the light on and  haven't seen her since.

It seems like a perfect day to tackle some indoor projects. Here's hoping that sunshine or rain, your day is bright!
