Poe - The Princely Steampunk Altered Art Crow

Poe has been traveling to antique shows this fall and is now finished with the circuit. He's been the "goodwill ambirdador" for our booth and has made many friends along the way. Now he's looking for a quiet nest where he can enjoy his well-deserved retirement.

You'll find Poe to be a most gracious family member. As a prince, his manners are impeccable. See how considers the "moldy" pumpkins without selfishly rushing in to grab one?
Poe is an authentic vintage life-size paper-mache crow decoy. Check out his soulful glass eyes. Everything he wears is from the royal attic; (no self-respecting member of the steampunk ruling class would stoop to buying 'new').

Crows love bling, and Poe is no exception. His huge rhinestone necklace is, of course, his favorite accessory. Notice the clock hand dangling from the back of it; a gentle reminder to him not to be late for his princely appointments.
The ragged cape is vintage crepe paper, while his silverplate crown was once used at state dinners as a napkin ring, (Crowbama may even have used it!) It's been embellished with watch parts and more of his beloved jewels.
Poe and the "moldy" pumkins are currently available in our etsy shop.

CREATE - This Week...Can Junk Bonanza Be Far Behind?

After a few days off to enjoy my son's wedding, (more about that another day), it's time to get ready for CREATE this Friday.  I'm looking forward to the Etched Mystery Window Pendants workshop that I'm taking on Thursday, but that leaves only today, tomorrow and Wednesday to get ready for the Artists' Faire.

The cubbies are just beginning to fill with little treasures that will go to CREATE and to Junk Bonanza, which is quickly approaching.  If the "show helper" fairy is at your place, please send her over here...I could use the extra help!  Here are a few of the goodies that are ready to travel:

Trade beads in wonderful colors...

and dozens of keys. Chances are we have the size you need.

Bus passes printed with fun numbers,

...and much more to come!

(P.S. The street sign does not have permission to travel to
Chicago,so will stay here until Junk Bonanza.)

Gracie's Cottage (temporary) Weekend Move

We temporarily moved Gracie's Cottage to Rummage-A-Rama last weekend and teamed up with Lilac Lane Boutique to load a large booth with an eclectic mix of great old finds. It's always nice to see our loyal customers and meet some new folks. The busy weekend at R-A-R left us with room for all the new finds that we're unearthing daily. We think that you'll love what we have planned for Elkhorn next month.

We also met the talented mother/daughter team of Altered Ever After, who were selling at R-A-R for the first time,  Candyce Martens and Jill Kerne.  Candy's imaginative creations are colorful and immediately evoke happiness, (see photo below). Jill's steampunk jewelry is so intricate that a quick glance won't suffice; I loved studying each piece to see what she had incorporated.

We were excited to learn that when we get to Junk Bonanza in September, Altered Ever After will be selling there as well.  Check out their site...we know you'll love their creations as much as we did.
